Location: Rockbridge Hunt property at Hunt, Inc., near Natural Bridge VA
Date: Sunday, December 3, 2006
Time: First team starts on course at 10:30 AM. Last team starts on course at noon.

Requirements:

  • Virginia State law requires a current negative coggins test be provided for inspection. Coggins will be checked. No horse will be allowed without a current negative Coggins test.
  • Safety helmets or hard hats are required for all jumping entries and all junior entries.
  • Every participant must register and sign a waiver of liability before being mounted. Parent/Guardian must sign for entries under age 18. This form is available online.
  • No dogs permitted without being on leash.

    Entry fees:
    $25 per horse / adult rider combination
    $20 per horse / junior rider (under 18)

    Directions:
    From Interstate 81, take Exit 180 (one of two Natural Bridge exits) and go north on Route 11 (Lee Highway) for about two miles.
    Turn left on Fox Hunt Road (Route 739).
    When the road forks, stay to the left on Fox Hunt Road.
    Take the next possible right turn (Harkto Loop) into the parking lot.

    Awards:
    Ribbons awarded for first to sixth places, with two ribbons per team.

    Teams:
    Teams will consist of two riders. Three entries may ride together but only two ribbons will be presented. All riders must pay an entry fee. Junior riders age 12 (twelve) and under must be accompanied by an adult entry on horseback.

    Start times:
    First team on course at 10:30. Last team must start on course no later than 12:00 Noon.
    Please check the hunt line: 540-462-1113. If the weather is unseasonably warm we may decide to start teams at 10 AM.

    There will be a five-minute check in the middle of all courses.

    Three divisions:

  • Hunter Optimum division: The course will be about 8 miles over rolling terrain with optional jumps. Most of the jumps will be coops, three feet or less in height. The pace should simulate a day of hunting and will average about 7-8 miles per hour.
  • Hilltopper division: Follows the same course as the Hunter Optimum division with go-arounds at all jumps. The pace will be slightly slower than the Hunter Optimum division.
  • Trail division: The course will be about 5 miles over rolling terrain with no jumps. The pace will average about 5 miles per hour.

    Winning time:
    To be set by member(s) of Rockbridge Hunt. The winning times will be announced after final times are tabulated.

    Light refreshments will be provided.
